Katie and I went to see these guys last night, and holy crap. The most eclectic set I've seen in a long time. All three of the players did double duty - the cellist played violin and keys, the guy with the bass/guitar twin played cello and percussion as needed, and the drummer was an all around samples/weird noises guy. As wanky as some of the stuff seemed (bird sounds, a gong, a little music-playing christmas toy that the drummer "scratched"), they were tight throughout and none of the noise was out of place. The cellist/violinist is a monster and really makes their sound.

I'd recommend the show to anyone, and the music to Explosions in the Sky, GY!BE and Mogwai fans.

Hmm, sounds really interesting. I hadn't really heard of them before, but I will take note. I take that it is all instrumental like the bands you mentioned (well, most of Mogwai at least)?

Yeah, pretty much all instrumental. Listen to "Who Took Berlin (part I)" here: http://hype.non-standard.net/track/30654

it's their "metalest" song.

but they have a really cool, unique sound. not messy but a whole lotta sound.
