Put the cursor at the beginning of a sentence, hit Ctrl and click your mouse. It highlights the whole paragraph.

I may use this almost as much as typing in the URL to a site in the bar up top, then hitting Ctrl and Enter. This puts the http://www. and .com at the front and end of the URL and sends you to the site, too.

Sorry if this is old news, but I figure if it helps one person, I've done my good deed for the day. After the phone call I got from my boss this a.m., I could use the karma.

I think I mentioned this one before, but when you're trying to decipher the tiny text Dusty Chalk always uses, it's handy to highlight it, ctrl+c, then go down to the reply box and ctrl+v. Bada bing.

I've been using F6 a lot recently, which highlights the navigation url so you can type in a new one. F4 drops down the navigation text field to your previously viewed sites.

And backspace, which of course takes you back to the previous page viewed.

Not mindblowing, but just in case some of you didn't know.

well yeah, but if one cares to read the tiny text, this is the shortest way I've found, as opposed to Quoting it.

Hey, those are nice to know.

Of course it's not mind-blowing, but good to have in the quiver.

This isn't working for me (in Opera) -- what software (browser?) are you using? Or is this in word or something?

IE. I got the tip from an column in the Chronicle, and all he says is,

Tip of the Week

Speaking of touch pads, notebook users know how frustrating it can be to try to select text by dragging on the touch pad. There's an easier way. To select a sentence, hold down the Ctrl key and tap (or click) once. For a single word, tap twice in quick succession. And for a paragraph, do it three times. By the way, this also works with a mouse.

It works for me just tapping once to get a whole paragraph. *shrug* I dunno.

Excel tips:

Hitting F2 puts your cursor at the end of the text in a cell without having to use the mouse.

Also, End followed by the Down Arrow takes you to the last entry in a column, and End followed by the Up Arrow takes you to the top (with some exceptions).

Since I stumbled across these I use them all the time.
