Nope. I can do the go-back-and-discover-after-the-fact thing, but...nope...

Pink Floyd -- had already released my favourites by the time I realized they were my favourite group

Ditto Tangerine Dream, although that one was close

Ditto Skinny Puppy, Kraftwerk, Mike Oldfield, Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre, Talk Talk...

Nope, pretty much everyone is after the fact.

Well, a lot of bands earned my fandom early on -- Talk Talk is a good example, loved 'em from the first album on -- but hadn't made it to my list of favourites yet.

Actually, now that I think about it -- Nine Inch Nails became one of my favourites with Pretty Hate Machine, and now Broken is my favourite. So that might be one.

Tragically Hip's 'In Violet Light' - This might not be the best example as this album is not my absolute favourite out of all their albums, but for a latter day Hip album, it is played nearly as often as Fully Completely or Road Apples. I guess I was surprised at how much I love this album because they hadn't been as consistent as they once were.

Radiohead, 'Kid A' - This is probably my favourite Radiohead album. I never would have thought I would like anything more than OK Computer, but here it is.

Beastie Boys 'Check Your Head' - Loved the first one, eventually came to love Paul's Boutique, but this one is my favourite out of all of them. I need to play this again soon.

See, it happens all the time that an artist I already like comes out with an album I think is "up there". Radiohead, for example. I was a fan after The Bends but their next two were both awesome as well. But did either one become my favorite? Not yet, at least.

the bends still remains my favorite.

Animal Collective - got into them late, with Sung Tongs, but Feels is better).

Skinny Puppy - Last Rights is my favorite and I was into them after VIVSectVI

Phish - Into them from about the time of Hoist and Story of the Ghost is by far my favorite.

The Orb - Bought the first album and went from there. Now my favorite disc is either Pomme Fritz, UFOrb or Orbus Terrarum.

Blur - Into em from the 'baggy' days and dug the hell out of Modern Life and Parklife.

Usually the first album I hear from a band tends to be my favorite, but...

I was already a Pink Floyd fan when Wish You Were Here was released.

I was already a Clash fan when London Calling was released

I was already a Elvis Costello fan when This Year's Model was released.

I was already an Echo & the Bunnymen fan when Ocean Rain came out, (but it's really a tie with Crocodiles.

I was already a Smiths fan when The Queen is Dead was released.

I was already a Los Lobos fan when Kiko was released.

I was already a Pogues fan when If I Should Fall from Grace with God was released.

I had long been a Blur fan when Think Tank came out.

I was a Radiohead fan before The Bends.

I liked Mogwai before the Peel collection, but that may not count.

I liked Nirvana before In Utero.

This is a tougher category than I thought before looking at the collection. I guess a lot of my love is retrospective.

Beat Band with Hot Shots II?

I don't know, this was harder than I thought.

The only one I can think of is Wilco. YHF is my favorite but I was pretty into them before that came out. At first I didn't like it then got to liking it more and more and now it's in my top 3 albums of all-time.
