5 watt class A fender champ clone by Mark Sampson, of Matchless and Badcat fame.

Stay tuned to see what else I get me. So what are you getting yourself?

I'm so amped (pun intended).

YOU FUCKING BASTARD. Mail that to me immediately. STAT!!! Goddammit. I don't think you know how much I neeeeed that amp. I got neighbors, and good taste! I can't deal with anything else! But I'm married, and cannot even muster the energy to try to talk the wife into accepting that a tiny, quiet amp is worth a grand+.

I cannot turn the mesa dual rectifier anywhere near "up."

I got a REALLY good deal on this on ebay. We'll have to have a visit. Did you ever sell that amp or your other gear? You should pick up one of those Mesa Subway blues or subway rockets... they go for decent on ebay.

Ah, the benefits of NOT being married.

Oh, and my Mesa Scout will be arriving this week too. If you need some mesa gear, i've got an endorsement, lemme know on the dl.

So this

[img][650:186]http://www.mesaboogie.com/Product_Info/Bass_Amps/bigblock/BigBlock-front-enlarged.jpg[/img]

is my main head i gig with.

I pair it with

Image

and with

Image

but on small gigs i just use the first speaker cabinet and depending on the band, and how much the gig pays, i'll use that cab with

[img][650:307]http://www.mesaboogie.com/Product_Info/Bass_Amps/walkabout/WalkAboutCloseUp/Walkabout-Frt_Lgr.jpg[/img]

which is a smaller head, and much lighter. It's 13 lbs, 300 watts. The other head is closer to 50, but it's 750 watts. I can sling a bass on my back(15 lbs with bag, cables, pedals), grab the 2x10 (about 60 lbs) with one hand and the walkabout head in the other, and i'm fairly portable.

But now with

Image

I can have a free hand for cigarettes, coffee, door handles, my dick, whatever i need to get a hand on while I'm moving gear.

Thank you Santa Phil.

I regularly drool over the subway combos. But that 5-watt class A is definately a juicier amp. Just fucking amazing, at conversational volumes. I've also had this theory that I should go find an old ADA MP2, and plug headphones into it. Busty once had one, and it was fucking FUN to play with that shit. Put it into a tube power amp, and a decent 4x12, and I swear to god, I was ON siamese dream. Note-for-note, just like it.

All I want these days, besides something small-yet-qual, is a good 'ol fender deluxe reverb reissue. Half the gigs I get these days playing out are pedal steel, and half are telecaster. I borrowed one (deluxe) last year and played steel through it, and it was very, very nice for that. If mesa made something with the depth / bottom for pedal steel, I'd be scrounging.

Let's try and put the pedal through that scout combo...

seriously. and through the star.

It would sound rich and full in a bass amp, but the little 10" wouldn't do much for it. I play it through a vibrolux reverb reissue now (2x10), and it's respectable, but too brassy. Needs a more scooped out eq curve from an amp. Bassman head on single 15, or on 2x12, sealed cab. Add some plush reverb, and a dash of slapback delay, and it's money.

I wanna run a few electrics through that star. I wanna do my best SRV impression through it. Damn I'm jealous.

squirrgle.

how about that lone star combo?

also, i know you're crazy busy with school and a wife or whatever, but word on the street is that you and busty are a bad coupla muhfuhs.

Feel like working on a project or two, either via e-mailing .wavs, .omfs, etc... or making the occasional trip to chicago/madtown?

Probably just recording, maybe the occasional gig. I've got some ideas for diff. projects, pm me if you're interested, and i'll let you know what i'm thinking.
