Hmmm...on first listen, it's just 'eh'. I'm not sure I'd be able to listen to a whole album of the same sound. Does his style change?

Yeah they are all a bit different. A few rocky numbers with his brother shouting and some wicked lyrics. Reminds me of daniel johnston. But that track is one of my favs.

he's a better comic artist than a musician usually, but some stuff always gets through. I'm pretty sure he got signed to Rough Trade entirely because of his connection with the Moldy Peaches.

Darrin put him on a mix a few years ago, a great song "East River" which I liked.

also, he actually does a pretty great cover of that Strokes song..."Barely Legal" maybe?

Is he an established comic artist do you know? Or is it more underground. Wrong words perhaps but i know sweet fa about comics.

Plus whats his connection with the peaches?

I think this is his first label release, i really want to check out the earlier stuff.

He's an underground guy, writer and artist, mostly true stories. puts out his own books as far as I can tell. They can be pretty funny, though not the best artist in the world.

he designed the peaches album cover, toured with them, and I think played on the album or something, I can't remember.

He's got at least one album out on rough trade already, and a song (that Strokes cover) on that rough trade artists covering rough trade artists disc.

The 'Jack' in this thread title threw me abit and I didn't realise who we were talking about.

I've not heard this new one but Jeffrey Lewis put out a couple of albums a few years back. They're nothing special but they do contain a few lo-fi classics like 'The Last Time I Did Acid I Went Insane', 'The Chelsea Hotel Oral Sex Song' (which has one of the best couplets in a song ever) and 'If You Shot The Head You Kill The Ghoul' which should be on everyone's Halloween mix.

Yeah been checking it out a bit more. Managed to download the other stuff but i have to buy all this now proper. I feel a new obsession coming on like daniel johnston.

One thing that bugged me was i saw this advert for the record and the biggest selling point was that it was produced by kramer(galaxie 500, daniel johnston + others).

But then i would probably never of checked it out if i had not of seen the galaxie 500/daniel j thing but still. I find music advertising intruiging.
