Jeter is one of the Yankees that I actually think is a decent guy.

There was talk about Clement for Crisp too, though I think the Indians were more interested in Arroyo.

Yeah, so were the M's. I think they counter-offered Reed for Arroyo---no reply from Boston yet.

As an Orioles fan I am sworn to hate the Yankems and I think for me, the personalities get in the way. Sure there were some good guys (O'Neil, Williams), but I see Rodriguez and even Jeter and I think dicks. Jeter puts up a front that sickens me. No offense, but Yankems fans also are pretty piss ass crappy as well. Obnoxious most of them. You know, where were most of these people when the Yankems were languishing in the basement?

oh really.. give me some insight to Jeter's big front he puts on.
Success breeds jealousy plain and simple.

-Piss Ass crappy Dov...

and when the Yankees were languising in the basement, I was able to get better seats and easier too.

Haha, its always that people are jealous of the Yankems? I have my own team who are spending boatloads of money and can't win a championship!

Ok, the Jeter comment was just me being a Os fan, but I still hate him

Absolute waste of money. For some reason we cannot spend money wisely.

Tony Tarasco should have been allowed to demonstrate his William Tell act with Jeffrey Meier, then gone William Burroughs on that shee' and shot the kid to death.

A far cry from the 7-year deal Boras wanted, but still a nice payday for Jesus. It's amazing how the Yanks will constantly throw too much money at aging, past-their-prime players.

The bigger question is, how many SPs will have to combine to throw for 200 IP next year?

I laughed hard when I saw this. Not only does Boston have no one after running off an awesome GM, but their rival team steals one of their best players.
I'm not a Yankees fan by any means, but they won't need a whole lot of pitching with the hitters they have. They could have some decent pitchers with an ERA around 4.0 and still beat most teams by at least two runs.

Boston is in some serious shit. I wouldn't be surprised to see Toronto beat them out for a distant second.

Seems like a lot of $$$ for Unfrozen Caveman Centerfielder.

Not that it matters I guess, but Damon is a dumb, dumb guy. I mean, over & above all the "idiot" imagery. I was able to watch the guy for years as a Royal, & he's borderline fucking retarded.

Past his prime? He's 32 and coming of a productive year. I think he's actually right in his prime.

Just wait until he finds out how big that outfield is. He can still hit, but he doesn't run as well anymore. I think his prime was right before Oaktown had him.

I don't really like the signing. It could turn out great for a few years but I'm not sure he's not in serious decline. Besides, even if he turns out to be very good for 3-4 years, even as a Yankee fan I hate the idea of him having to shave and cut his hair.

I'm psyched about the likely Dotel signing though.

I guess you forgot the Sox still have Ramirez, Ortiz, Tek, Beckett, Schilling & Nixon. This isn't the 9/11 everyone's making it out to be.

Each of the last few years, the Yankee offense has been pretty daunting towards opposing pitchers.

didnt stop the fact that, when it came to playoff time, for some reason, the offense shut down...

which proves, it will still come down to pitching....they say good pitching will stop good hitting.

so, while i love the move, and the yanks will score alot more runs then they have, if the pitching doesnt do their part, its not gonna matter.

I know pitching has more to do with winning championships than hitting come playoff time, since the Cards seem to be a dominant hitting team with relatively weak pitching when October comes around.
Yet, Boston supposedly has a bunch of openings to fill and Ramirez is fairly disgruntled already. I expect the Bo Sox to be in disarray by October of 2006.

Damon Exhausted From Trying So Hard To Stay In Boston

BOSTON--Former Red Sox centerfielder Johnny Damon collapsed from exhaustion this morning after trying doggedly for two months to stay in Boston. Doctors say that Damon was “emotionally and physically spent” from the grueling battle.
“Johnny is going to be bedridden for a few weeks,” said Michelle Mangan, Damon’s wife. “He did everything he could to stay in Boston. These past few weeks he’s been going crazy, calling John Henry at all hours of the night, screaming at his agent to make a deal. Last night it came to a head when he went to Larry Luccino's house, grabbed him by the throat, and screamed ‘We’re running out of time! Do something!’ But they didn't do anything. When he signed that deal with New York, he just collapsed. Poor guy. He just cared too much.”
