Classic Wire albums to be reissued
Three classic albums set to be remastered

Wire are set to release remastered versions of three of their classic albums including 'Pink Flag'.

'Chairs Missing', '154' and 'Pink Flag' will be reissued on March 6.

'Pink Flag' was originally released in December 1977 and influenced a range of bands including Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party.

I think 'Pink Flag' can stand on its own without being name-dropped with FF and BP.

Pink Flag is just one of those albums you pop on and is so good, that you completely immerse yourself in it, and when the record stops you feel all empty because you had just been flooded with such ecstacy. Fantastic album.

I might pick up the rerelease if it has some more goodies on it, probably Chairs Missing and 154 for sure.

thanks for the news.

Pink Flag = My #3 all-time album.
Awesome.

"Reuters" is one of the best opening tracks ever.

The old remasters sound fine. I doubt I'll re-buy these, but I'm glad they're getting some more attention.

And Pink Flag is a Top 10 all-time record for me, too.

Yeah...my copy of "154" is a remaster w/bonus tracks, but it's a UK import. So I guess that doesn't count. That thing's like, 12 years old, too.

Yeah but who wants that hissing or popping sounds. Come on don't you want a DVD 5.1 remaster?

I dunno, I like the hissing/popping on songs like Map Ref--maybe I've got a lucky copy where the extra noise enhances the track, but I play the album more often than the cd, ditto just about everything on Pink Flag. I used to be obsessive about Wire, and have all of the original EMI import cd's, which are apparently worth a bit of money now.

No, I was being sarcastic. I completely agree. One of the reasons I have yet to buy the Bob Dylan albums on cd is because I have most of them on vinyl and prefer them with the hissing and pops.

You obviously need a good record cleaner.

Sure if I'm listening to a record that was just produced it's fine but a record thats 30+ yrs old...its gonna have some imperfections.

The vinyl suits me just fine. But I guess this is good news, if I've got an extra 50 bucks burning a hole in my pocket, maybe I'll pick them upand retire the old vinyl. Or maybe i'll just burn the vinyl to CD.
