My Huskers finished the year at #24, I think they probably should have been ranked above Clemson and FSU, but other than it was a nice finish after a shaky October.

I can't believe Auburn got ranked higher than Wisconsin, and would have liked to see Notre Dame, Georgia and Oregon fall further than they did. TCU should have probably been in the AP top ten too.

As for 2006, I think if half of our O-Line recruits pan out and Nebraska gets healthy and stays that way, they should probably only lose to USC and Texas next year. I actually like our chances against USC on the road more than I do against Texas at home. Kansas State and A&M will be difficult road games, but both of those teams finished the year pretty badly and have some major rebuilding to do.
Now all we need to do is finish the stadium addition and fill the two openings we have in the schedule.

I just thought I would add this. I found this posted on Huskerpedia. Here is what the preseason Top 25 Looked like at the beginning of this year.

1. USC (60 first place votes) 12-1, 2
2. Texas (4 first place votes), 12-0, 1
3. Tennessee, 5-6, UR
4. Michigan, 7-5, UR
5. LSU, 11-2, 6
6. Ohio State, 10-2, 4
7. Oklahoma, 8-4, 22
8. Virginia Tech, 11-2, 7
9. Miami (FL), 9-3, 17
10. Florida , 9-3, T- 12
11. Iowa. 7-5, UR
12. Louisville (1 first place vote), 9-3, 19
13. Georgia, 10-3, 10
14. Florida State, 8-5, 23
15. Purdue, 5-6, UR
16. Auburn, 9-3, 14
17. Texas A&M, 5-6, UR
18. Boise State, 9-4, UR
19. Cal, 8-4, 25
20. Arizona State, 7-5, UR
21. Texas Tech, 9-3, 20
22. Boston College, 9-3, 18
23. Pittsburgh, 5-6, UR
24. Fresno State, 8-5, UR
25. Virginia, 7-5, UR

The writers did a pretty good job of predicting the top six or seven, but really screwed up in voting Tennessee, Michigan, Oklahoma and Iowa that high.
Purdue, Pittsburgh and Texas A&M were also huge bust.

Here is the list of teams that were unranked before the season started.

3. Penn State, 11-1
5. West Virginia, 11-1
8. Alabama, 10-2
9. Notre Dame, 9-3
11. TCU, 11-1
12. Oregon, 10-2
15. Wisconsin, 10-3
16. UCLA, 10-2
21. Clemson, 8-4
24. Nebraska, 8-4

Yeah, Penn State had the year everyone expected Michigan to have. After two straight losing seasons, I was happy with the bowl, and a BCS win is icing on the cake. Top 25 would be nice next year, but without Tamba Hali or Michael Robinson I'm not holding my breath.
