hidden gems, up and comers for 2006

It's about time for me to place another order to my favorite indie music store, www.stinkweeds.com (shameless plug), so I want to know what you all (collectively) recommend. I actually picked up a few good CD's at the PX the other day; J.E.W. ep, a Son Volt retrospective, Spoon-Gimme Fiction and Arcade Fire-Funeral for about $40. I am coming home on R&R in a little more than a month and looking forward to going to a show or two while I'm home. I miss live music

There really is no replacement for it.

Hey, Mikey! I have a nice surprise for you. Met a guy the other day who plays in a local band. He let me listen to his album and it was TOTALLY up your alley. I ended up buying it and informed him it was going to Iraq. He was completely stoked and said, "Tell your friend 'good luck' and hope he enjoys the album!"

All I need to do now is package and mail it.

my latest find is the band love is all. their album "9 times that same song" is quite amazing. great blend of instruments. swedish bands really know what the deal is.

Ours, Ours, Ours! I'm going to pimp this band all year. And when they start touring, I'm going to urge all of you to see them live. I'm hearing the album will be out in May.

What the hell is taking Jimmy so long to get that album out anyway? He's been working on it for over a year!! Sheesh!

Last I heard, it is being mixed. From what he said in concert, he wanted it out in January or February, but May seems the most realistic.
