My favorite superchunk moment:

I was in the Merge office one day and I was introduced to Laura (co-owner, bass player) and we started talking about the get up kids and how she hadn't heard them yet despite the fact that they were due to tour together soon...I loved being able to tell her that they were basically a 3rd rate version of her band.

that's so sad. I have a thing for female bass players and she might well be the reason.

It looks like they all came through, save for the second singles compilation which had missing parts. If anyone is interested in hearing any, drop me a pm.

In one single file, I've got Here's to Shutting Up and Tossing Seeds for anyone who'd like to hear it.

Wow...(pretty much) the beginning and the last album they put out...

That's a disparate pair...

<- Personally endorses the 'Chunk. They make me so damned happy...

It's not just that Sam Dees track we share then.

The image of Laura jumping up and down on the stage of King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in safari shorts with a Jazzmaster (or something) is an image that's virtually hardwired into my brain now.

Kathy from The Thermals is her natural successor, although disappointingly, from what I've seen she doesn't jump about or wear safari shorts.

it's a P-Bass...a jazzmaster is a guitar (think j. mascis)...not to be confused with the fender jazz bass

my girlfriend plays a P bass. I think I take better care of it than she does.

So I've listened to No Pocky for Kitty, Foolish, On the Mouth and Tossing Seeds today. And goddamn this band is fucking good. I can't believe I've gone this long without hearing them. It's amazing how many bands sound like Superchunk.

So far I'm ranking as follows:

No Pocky for Kitty
On the Mouth
Foolish

The singles comp is ridiculously solid as well. On the Mouth may be the best album Sloan never made. Thanks to all for making me download all of the albums. I think I'd be pissed if I just grabbed a couple of them.

Also: Yail, I didn't see your post where you mentioned you'd like a couple of these albums. If you're on AIM I'll send 'em that way. The YSI link is probably dead now.

"The First Part" alone makes Foolish awesome.
