Gearhead Records $5

On Gearhead Records splashpage, http://www.gearheadrecords.com, they have a graphic that says all of their cds are $5 until Dec. 31st. Buuuuuut, the offer hasn't been taken down and their online store is registering the $5 cds as you put them in the cart, so if you are so inclined, check it out.

Keep in mind that this is basically a collection of b-sides, though IMO the Wildhearts b-sides are superior to most bands greatest hits. Great collection, just not the most consistant album ( "Return To Zero" sounds like it was burned from the 7" vinyl it was released on ) .

Really, really good album from an underappreciated band - one of my favorites on a personal AND musical level. The Gearhead release is the original mix, which I prefer ( I remember telling Mario back in 2001 that it "sounded like a fucking AC/DC album" ), & the 2 slow, ballad-y bonus tracks are a direction I always told them they should pursue more - but Gearhead just wanted them to keep crankin' out records like "RLF" ( which is in my Top 10 All-Time, but hard to maintain that velocity the older a band gets ).

Yeah I figured for $5 each I'd take a few chances and I listened to most of the sample tracks they had on the site.

Anyone know how that Earth Vs. The Wildhearts album is? I liked the Guitar Wolf cover they did on this album but haven't heard much else by them.

It's solid. Every track cooks, and the compositions are surprisingly complex. Highly recommended.

Kinda strange that you never see it for really really cheap, seeing as it was their only album to get a US release ( until a couple years ago ).

Just got my Gearhead package.

Red Planet "Let's Degenerate" is far and away the best of the lot. There are times when this record sounds like a lost 999 record, and believe me that's a good thing. At other times it sounds like the Cars would've sounded if they had rocked harder.

The Wildhearts are, well, The Wildhearts.

The Dragons is decent--sounds like Lemmy fronting Agent Orange.

Haven't really digested the Riverboat Gamblers, but it's running a distant fourth right now.

yeah i know. i was kinda bummed b/c it said 2-3 weeks when i made the order but 6 days is pretty good.
