For the people who mentioned Mike Patton, where should I start off when it comes to him? I've heard he's kind of abrasive, but I've been into singers like that more and more lately.

If you want something along the lines of Faith No More, then I'd go with either of the Tomahawk albums, Mr. Bungle's California, Fantomas' The Director's Cut or that Lovage album.

If you want more experimental stuff go with Mr. Bungle's first 2 albums or the other 3 Fantomas albums.

I'd avoid either of his solo albums.

Now that I think about it, the Freddie Mercury nomination makes a lot of sense.

Faith No More is the most accessible of his, then Mr. Bungle, then Fantomas. His solo projects are experimental as hell. He's downright unrecognizably beautiful on Eyvind Kang - Virginal Co-ordinates. Also, his work with Dillinger Escape Plan, Irony is the New Dead Scene (or whatever it's called) is awesome. Dude has range; dude has ability; dude is a fucking vocal acrobat -- kinda the male Bjork.
