i like it a lot...didn't make my top 20...but it is always a good listen.
sounds like early 90's indie guy-girl thing. the band hazel kinda comes to mind.

The album overall was okay, but I loved "Around the Corner" a LOT. Actually, I did enjoy this album a whole lot at first, but it just disappeared as the year wore on. One thing that annoyed me was the bass playing was pretty rough in spots. When there's only two instruments, both players need to be very proficient at them, and that's the reason I have a low tolerance for the White Stripes. Ian is Jack here - his singing and playing is great, but too often Amy is Meg. I found Amy's rusty bass playing easier to overlook than Meg's lumpy drumming.

Edited to change: WTF? Why have I been under the impression since before this thing came out that Amy played bass and Ian drums? AMG says the opposite. Ian's playing here is really subpar then.

Oddly enough, I bought this and for some reason it got lost in the shuffle and I didn't find it until the other day. I'm of the school that mostly every thing Mackaye touches is gold, so this was no different.

Guess I forgot about it, too.

Never heard of his new band. Firs thing though, I need to listen to Fugazi. I downloaded a couple of their albums, loaded them on the ipod and it keeps getting bumped down the queue.
