First Vinyl: probably Raffi

First Cassette: probably Alvin & The Chipmunks

First CD: probably the Aladdin soundtrack

First CD I specifically remember buying for myself: Either Third Eye Blind's debut or the Goo Goo Dolls' Dizzy Up The Girl

As far as I can remember...in this order:
cassette tape = Micheal Jackson - Thriller (either that or the Minipops)
record album (vinyl) = Madonna - s/t
cd = ...maybe Dead Can Dance - Into the Labyrinth ...? (I was late to get on that boat)

Oh... I guess I had various "kids" records and tapes before these.

wow, this is tough.
First vinyl- a 7 inch of Foreigner's "Feels Like the First Time." I was 6.
First cassette- this I truly do not remember.
cd- probably Nine Inch Nails' "Pretty Hate Machine" or Sinead O'Connor's "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got." My parents gave me a cd player in 1990, so I was a late bloomer.

It's ok. That was my first cd as well.

My first cassette was "Greetings From Asbury Park, NJ" by Bruce Springsteen and my first vinyl was "Crest Of A Knave" by Jethro Tull.

vinyl = Magical Mystery Tour

cassette = no clue - I think I went straight to CD.

CD = Def Leppard - Pyromania

I was in on the ground floor with CDs. I remember the selection in the early 80's was ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure it was some K-Tel comp on vinyl. But I was 7 years old so it's kind of a blur.....

Feck, I think you've just dislodged a memory block. My real first LP was probably K-Tel's 22 Explosive Hits. The one with April Wine "Bad Side Of The Moon", Five Man Electrical Band "Signs", Daniel Boone "Beautiful Sunday", and, um, Sammy Davis Jr. "Candy Man".

Vinyl...I think a Falco 7-inch for "Vienna Calling" his failed follow-up to "Rock me Amadeus." I'm not even remotely kidding.

Cassette: I'd like to think it was Licensed to Ill, but it was probably the soundtrack to Beverly Hills Cop or Back to the Future. Not too sure.

CD: Either Rhythm Nation, Heavy D's Big Tyme, or Young MC's Stone Cold Rhymin. I think I received the JJ and Young MC CDs as presents along with the CD player for xmas. I think I then bought the Do the Right Thing soundtrack, which I'd had on tape for a while, and made an awkward first Depeche Mode purchase with Violator.

First MP3...no clue.

Album - Probably either a Bill Cosby or Spike Jones disc, having discovered both through my father's record collection

First Music Album: Barry Manilow - Barry Manilow

Cassette - Didn't

CD - I fully intended it to be Dark Side of the Moon, but the fuckers didn't have it in stock. So instead I bought:
- Brian Eno - Thursday Afternoon (one of the first things recorded especially for CD, so I had coveted this one for a while)
- Peter Gabriel - Security (because it was DDD, which I thought meant it was going to sound amazing. It didn't. Mastered way too low.)
- Some third CD which I can't remember at the moment
