so i finally went back to the library, first time in about 10 years, for a couple books for the wife, and wandered over to the cd section. not much, but wasn't expecting much. found wingspan & harvest. cds are mauled-scratched, but ripped just fine. :)

I got myself 4 CDs at the library yesterday. I didn't get more to avoid more late fees in case I don't return them in time.

It was my first time getting CDs there in years. I'll probaby go grab some more later.

Probably what I miss about UGA/Athens more than anything.
i love roaming around a huge library just checking shit out.

They actually just opened a really big new nice one near me. I need to go check out this music thing. Pretty fucking good idea.

I'm at my library a lot & it's rarely for books. Their video/DVD selection is okay but they have a good foreign section & a good size chunk of the Criterion DVD's, all at a dollar a week.

Which library you going to? You know you can order a cd from one branch and they will deliver it to the branch that is nearest to your house. Good stuff at the ole' DPL.

the library is probably the closest to me, AND is the most modern -- meaning, it's pretty fancy & easy to find stuff. i like it. if i knew how to read paper, maybe i'd take out a few books. :P

The NSU library down here is one of my favorties. Gorgeous building, and loaded with the goods. I recently discovered their DVD section, and grabbed the Jazz Casual series [feat. Basie, Gillespie, Coltrane].

Does your library charge for music/DVD rentals? My local does. It's not Blockbuster rates or anything, but...

The late fees shouldn't be more than the price of replacement.

yeah, but it's, like 10 cds.

you should take them back.
they usually have a maximum fee for extremely late materials and you probably won't have to pay it all off at once. you just may not be able to take anything out for a bit.

they are not american express. there's no interest and libraries are very forgiving. put them in the overnight drop box then run away.

you'll feel better--c'mon, i know you know you will.

they have an old address. and only sent a notice about it once, like, 2 years ago.

i never even listened to the cds. i got them to burn for my mom to listen to when she was in the nursing home, but, well, then, i never got a chance to burn them for her before she passed on.

(so, not only are they years late. but they are cds of the judds, kenny rogers, alabama and reba mcentire. this is so embarassing. )

Kenny and Alabama may hide a treasure trove of awesomeness.

Ummm I did that last year. Two books. I lost track of them for a while, but just recently found em and now I'm afraid to take them back.

Weird thing is, I've NEVER received a notice from the library about em.

Think I'll take them back this weekend and clear my conscience.
