yeah, i know what it means. and what i'm saying is that if people were to use language properly, they'd know that "worst" refers to the most severe or least desirable condition. and that is the ultimate. you can't say something is the worst twice. it's bad and it gets worse and then it finally becomes the worst. this is why it drives me fucking bonkers when people say things like "that was the funniest thing ever" six times in a day about six different things.

There is no doubt about it. The correct answer is Worse comes to Worst. It cannot be worst to worst. Well, I suppose you could say "Worst comes to Worst times infinity" and then it would be more than the least desireable. Everyone knows, Z, that if you put "times infinity" after something it makes it way badder. :)

i always thought it was worst comes to worst - but you are right - that makes no sense.

i've always thought "worse comes worse," just meaning "when things get even worse than before," but the popular one works too.

To combat the Looghification of it, some have decided to introduce pedagogy to the forum.

A possible explanation of "worst comes to worst" could be that of finally getting there, I.E. bottoming out. In other words, if someone predicted that the worst would happen, and then it happens, it's describing that point in time.

But I still prefer the other.
