i got bored studying for the bar exam back in '96, so i asked one of my friends how he could sit still so long. he gave me a can of skoal and a cup and he was right -- i passed Louisiana and Texas and developed a terrible habit along the way. i know it is a disgusting habit and i know it causes your lips to fall off, but, it was my habit (and ultimately "my addiction") until 10 days ago.

i quit. and surprisingly, it hasn't been that hard to do -- except when i have a cup of coffee from that evil corporate giant starbucks. somehow, it causes more craving than the community coffee i make at the house.

to assist in my efforts, i went to the market last tuesday morning and spent about $80 on things like mouthwash, toothpaste, dental explorers, toothbrushes, floss, etc. to help kill the flavor when the cravings start and think that focusing on killing the flavor cravings is probably the best idea i had. the original listerine is a pretty wicked "refresher".

anyway, sort of fun to be on the road to health. . .next stop, the gym.

Good on ya', Trevor!
Dipping is one of the nastiest habits I can think of.
Glad you're getting tobacco-free.
And I'm sure your girlie is, too!

Best decision you could've made. I quit smokes again in late November. I'll hopefully be quitting the rest of my life. I'll still smoke doobs, but I love physical activity too much to limit myself at them anymore.

good job, trevor.

i started smoking again when my wife left me, but now i'm kicking myself back into gear with yoga and soccer, and hopefully i'll rid myself of the smokes soon.

for now, though, i'm practicing walking around with my hands in my pockets, a cigarette dangling from my lip like andy capp . . . because i'm a dork.

Tobacco free for about 3 weeks. I usually only smoke when I play poker for some reason, or have been drinking with lots of people who smoke.

I've been dipping for 25 years. I have tried several times to quit, and actually did quit for two full months a few years ago. Problem is, it invaded my life constantly, awake and asleep. I couldn't sleep at night for dreaming of a dip. I gave up and went back to it, unfortunately. I haven't had a cavity since I was 12, and my lips are still on. Hope it lasts.

Meanwhile, my brand is Timberwolf Fine Cut Wintergreen if anyone wants to contribute to my slow death. I know some of you do.
