Todd McEwen's McX and Fisher's Hornpipe

McEwen is half James Joyce and half Dave Barry. His books are perpetually out of print and no one gives a shit about him.

But he makes me laugh more than just about any writer.

The first is a scathingly dour (and funny) short book about how dire it is to be Scottish.

The second is a scathingly dour (and funny) book about how horrifying it is to be Bostonian.

I loaned out both of them years ago and never got them back, but my wife got them from Alibris for just a few bucks.

Highly recommended.
