i honestly didn't mind the taxes out of my paycheck, i understand and could deal with those. Still, this was like free money, a bonus, and oh do i loathe them now. i think i just bought .000002343 minutes of iraq.

guys, i should have said that my wife just got my signing bonus. i'm angling for a new phone, but i think she has plans. although i appreciate the suggestions.

Nothing gets hit hareder than f'ing bonuses. This is where hard core, scary lefties and I diverge. Unless you live in Germany, you should never see 50% come out of any sort of paycheck.

One of the cool things about where I work now is that they give you bonus/incentive $$$ in the form of American Express Gift Checks. No tax, & when you use one you get the change back in cash.

That's great when your bonus amounts to $100 or less. It's not very useful when the bonus is in the thousands.

Why? they could start giving out those prepaid credit cards (gift cards) that are becoming popular. It's pretty ingenious, I think.

I can't believe that Chase's bonus won't even buy him a phone after his wife is done with it. haha.

Both times this has happened so far, it's been considerably more that $100.

And if I ever get ANY kind of bonus in the "thousands" I could give a fuck less how they pay it to me.
