I'm preparing two batches of sangria for a Spanish-themed dinner party tomorrow night. I've added fresh orange slices, raspberries and apples, brandy and a bit of sugar. It's my first time making it and damn, does it look and smell good!!

Do you think it'll be safe in my fridge until tomorrow evening?

it should be, but you might want to remove the old fruit and replace it with new fruit before the party. the apple will get a little soggy and discolored.

But isn't the whole idea of having alcohol-sopped fruit the whole idea behind sangria?

What you've done sounds delicious; you've added way more fruit than I usually do, so let us know how it tastes!

If you plan to let your sangria "age" a bit, then minimal fruit is desired. Sangria at Casa Picasso can be made Monday and be better than ever on Thursday eve. Use only harder fruits like apple, guava, pineapple and such to marinate. avoid adding the carambola, peach, orange and such until the immediately before service. Always hit your sangria with soda before serving. PM me for a perfect recipe-- anyobner who wants our recipe here is welcome.

Holy shit, T - I'm making sangria like right now. No apples, just oranges and limes, and all should be consumed tonight. Shit goes like candy.

My recipe goes:

1.5 L red wine
1 cup rum, triple sec and sugar

Let sit overnight; About an hour before serving slice in the lemon/limes and a can of Canada Dry.

Best ever, but I can't drink it during the winter. It's a summer drink for me, so it's hard to get into it when it's 30 below.

I boil a shitload of oranges and limes (or I should say the wife does), in club soda I think, and then squeezes it all into a big pot, with 2 huge things of burgundy wine, and then there's some Bitters or something. Did I mention I went to bockfest today? Yeah. I'm still recovering.

Sangria seems like the antidote to that kind of day. Damn I wish it was warm.
