That kid is definitely sick!

I love the highlight late in the video (around 3:50) when he beats BOTH the defenseman and the goalie 5 hole(between the legs for all of you hockey neophytes out there)

Honestly I haven't watched much hockey since the strike I'm sad to say.....wish that OLN wasn't the network carrying them - I never think to watch it on there

Oh man, I saw this a week before the break - holy shit right? With the B's getting less respect from the local media, my NHL radar has been reduced to a few blips here and there and I had no clue about this guy. WOW. His goals total is what, 4 off of the NHL leader?

I've been a Caps fan for nearly 30 years. Went to my first games in '77, saw 'em play the Cleveland Barons and the Montreal Canadiens at the old Cap Center. Ovechkin's the best player they've had since Rod Langway.

I love that the NHL ads are *still* pitching him as The Next One. It's like...why not just put some "generic hockey guy" in there to represent the unknown, 'cause clearly, Crosby is not it. Maybe he'll come around after a year or 2 in the league, but...

Crosby is 13th in the league in points as a rookie (Ovechkin is 8th). I think Crosby is going to be pretty great. Maybe Ovechkin will be better, but we'll see.

Right, but the point I think we're all making is that the NHL went hyperbolic well before we did. I'm definitely excited to see how well things go for Crosby - really, I'm a very glass half full kinda guy - but I just wish they'd spread the love a bit by focusing on a number of players, rather than "the annointed One."

Wait till Crosby gets Malkin on his powerplay or maybe even if one of them moves to wing evenstrength. At the Olympics the Russians were saying Malkin is better than Ovechkin. 2 goals 4 assists & +5 in 7 Olympic games. He's a center & seems to be the more complete package than Ovechkin. I doubt he'll score goals like Ovechkin or run people like him. But imagine him with Crosby, even if it's just on the PP.

Ovechkin is no joke...As a Flyers fan I hate it...Ovechkin in Washington and Crosby (and soon Malkin) in Pitts....But as a hockey fan I love it...And what I wouldn't give to have Phaneuf in the Orange and Black...Having that year off has made a big difference for the rookie crop this year..We basically get 2 years for the price of 1..And from what people are saying..the talent in the next draft is super deep as well..

The shot where he falls to his back and backhands a goal in while not even looking is unreal. I am a new hockey fan. But I would pay good money to see some of those shots live.
