I don't know what to do with my taxes this year. I had a job for three months in IL before I moved, and never got a W2 from them. So do I just not claim that or what? This question is why I'll be waiting until April 14th to do my taxes.

Did you try to contact them & ask for the W-2?

I wouldn't blow this off if I were you.

I agree, just because you didnt receive a copy of the W2 doesnt mean that the IRS didnt receive a copy.. its your responsibility to call.. worse comes to worse have them tell you the amount on your W2 and then do your taxes, and file for an extention until you receive the W2 from your old employer... of course, if you owe money you have to send the money in with your request for an extention or you will owe interest.

Okay, you guys talked me into it. My friend still works there, so I'll go through him to see if he can get me a copy.

I have never paid in, mostly due to not making real money while being a student, now it is due interest paid on my student loans.

Have kids and all your tax woes will magically disappear.

You don't have kids, do you? The minimal tax break you get is more than offset by the cost of having kids.

The only true, no strings attached benefits of kids is the pre boarding on airline flights

I think he was just referring to taxes specifically, not making a broad statement about the overall cost of kids

That's exactly what I was referring to. I do have kids, and my comment was in more of a "be careful what you ask for" vein. Taxes are really the only financial perk of having kids, because the day-to-day expenses are considerable.
