I wonder how many other cabinet members will jump ship before the 2008 election. With the administrations current approval numbers, I wouldn't want to affiliated with its legacy at the end of the term.

I was expecting a serious political reply and got that from you. It did make me laugh pretty hard, although I don't want to know if it is a real rumor you heard from some political insider.

There was a rumor. I started the rumor, but yeah, there's a rumor.

I don't really know enough about The Interior Ministry or presidential appointments to comment seriously, but I will tell you I think you are on to something about people trying to salvage their reps by running away, and FAST from l'il Georgie Boy. You know, like say, The Entire Republican Caucus in the House?

I am also reading an LBJ bio and I am at the height of the Depression, and what Hoover does, and the way he responds is almost exactly like W.

I thought those who jumped ship right after they won in 2004 knew that they were lucky enough to get a 2nd term, and that it could only go downhill from there. Most of those who stuck around had basically reached the pinacle of their political careers and decided to stay on board, the rest are too egomaniacal to seriously consider the possibility that they are the ones running the ship into the ground.
