I know nothing about ripping DVDs and have never done it before. So, anyone know of a good, FREE program that i can use to rip DVDs to my computer? (actually to an external hd but that doesn't really make a difference)

thanks.

3 scenarios depending on copywrite protection

90% of the time
--------------------
dvd shrink to rip+shrink
nero to burn

8% of the time
--------------------
dvd fab decrypter to rip
dvd shrink to shrink
nero to burn

2% of the time
--------------------
dvd fab decrypter to rip
vob blanket to fix
dvd shrink to shrink
nero to burn

ps dvd decrypter use to be great, however it was shutdown and is no longer in deveopment.

quickest and easiest way i've seen is rip with dvd decrypter and burn with clonedvd (not free, but there's torrents a-plenty). it copies all the menus and extras and requires about 3 clicks to work.

ImTOO DVD Ripper Platinum 4

Rips, converts, shrinks, lets you choose your device of choice (ipod, PSP, Laptop, regular DVD). No problems with copyright.

Ive also heard that one of the online serial webpages has a serial for the current version, otherwise its expensive.

Does DVD Shrink or DVDFab support IFO processing (VTS/PGC IDs)? Just curious.

dvd decrypter won't shrink, ut clonedvd will. dvd decrypter just rips all of the files off a dvd and puts them in a folder. all you have to with clonedvd is point it to that folder, and it will shrink the files down enough to fit on a standard single layer dvd, and it then burns it for you.

no problem! enjoy making legitimate backup copies of dvds which you legally own! :)
