Also, why aren't there more digital camcorders with embedded hard-drive-based memory a la mp3 players? I was surprised to learn that the storage solution is still reliant upon tapes, even if they're like, ultra small tapes.

I think things are moving in that direction with all the little digital cameras that can take video. Though even with a 1 GB memory card, you can only take about 8 minutes of pretty low quality video. Video takes up such a huge amount of memory that a camera would need a card that holds about 20 GB, but I don't see why they couldn't make that. I don't know if flash drives can hold that much yet.

Anyway, just rambling. No recommendations, sorry.
