Wow, what a difference a change of job makes.

Seriously, for the past couple of years I have wondered why we consistently had to pay a bunch on our taxes. Last year $2400. My wife changed jobs in the fall of 2004, so her new job was her only employer for 2005. While not exciting for you, it did mean working for a company who knew what the frak they were doing.

This year we are getting back near $5k! That's a $7000 swing....!

You ?

Crap! You just reminded me that I still need to do my taxes. I was planning on doing them this weekend, and actually forgot. DOH!

I don't think I will be getting back 5k though. This year is interesting because I started my own company with a huge first year loss (due to investment). I also made some extra consulting cash which I didn't pay taxes on yet plus my normal job (which i have paid taxes on). So hopefully i will get back some money rather then owe. We'll see.

For the first time ever, I'm not getting a Fed Tax Return. I owed (this is fucking ridiculous) $1.00. ONE FUCKING DOLLAR.
It could have been worse, I could have owed $2,400, but seriously a DOLLAR?
I guess my tax bracket jumped since '05 was the first whole year with a full-time job. Just ridiculous. I bought a nice suit with last year's return and was hoping for that "extra" money so I could actually have some $$ to pay back debts and what not.

I thought I was going to have to pay in, but after taking a look at it again I realized I forgot to deduct about 3,500 from my earnings, so I ended up getting about $400 back. I was pretty happy. It isn't near as much as I got back last year, but I made a little more this year and didn't have quite the interest deductions I did last year. Too bad the money will be spent real soon if we get our new place.

I usually always get back around $1400 from the federal and $250 from the state.

Not that this current group is too thrifty. Stupid supply sider's are worse than Rosevelt-ites because everything is payed for in arrears (the American way though I suppose)

Yeah, and I would suspect as a GA property owner, your taxes have gone nothing but up thanks to the Fed Gov (cos states are obligated to pay thing like medicaid, and they DO have balanced budget amendments and the like)

I hope someone around here can translate my next mortgage from Madarin for me...

Well, home ownership does improve your situation tax wise so I guess I cant complain about that too much.

Its more this problem with corporate and capital gains taxes that I got a small prob with.
