So I got to see one of the most hyped bands in America tonight, and sadly they weren't that great. I don't even know if I could say they were better than the two local area bands they played with, which is a new one for me. Usually the Nationally known band proves to me why they are as big as they are, and are twice as good as the local opener.
I thought they had a few good tunes, but their vocalist didn't seem to sing as loud as any of the other vocalists.
Overall, it was a great show, I thought they all played well, I just didn't think Tapes N Tapes reached the Arcade Fire worthy hype level.

I was definitely glad I was at a show drinking, since it was pouring outside most of the night

Bummer. I still haven't heard one note from this band, but now I'm less inclined to do so.

I wouldn't base anything off my opinion. I just thought their show was going to be at a level that most local bands don't reach on a regular basis. They were good, but not good enough to overcome an average bar sound system.

If they were no more impressive than Lincoln, NE's best, which is what I gathered, I'm probably not going to bother...

I've got a bunch of Leonard Cohen to sift through that I just got.

That didn't sound good. I'm just trying to support the guy cause he got ripped off so bad, and he's old.

Not that my purchases will make up for his $5 Million loss, but I did my part.

Wow, I seriously don't think TnT have reached the "Arcade Fire hype level". And I'd still go see 'em.

I'd agree on the fact they aren't being hyped by every major media outlet like The Arcade Fire did, and the fact they played nearly every late night show and did that CBS Fashion Rocks thing.
I was going more towards bands like The Arcade Fire who had huge hype before a person like myself here in Nebraska would get a chance to see them and they actually live up to the hype versus The Arctic Monkey's style hype where you here finally here the record or see them live and you don't see what the fuss is about.
Musically I thought Tapes N Tapes was worth the hype, they sounded no worse nor much better than anything I really like on The Loon. I guess I was expecting to see better stage presence, since I thought that is what part of the hype was about.

Puma, did you go to the Spaceland show? I caught them at the Alterknit, which, it turns out, is tiny! The lead singer's guitar pedals kept crapping out, but overall it was a good show. Their stage banter was really easy, and their heads are definitely not too big yet.

And considering I got a ticket at the door of a 200 capacity venue toward the end of the opener's act, I don't think they're too big yet.

yeah i was at the spaceland show.... i was kinda surprised by the turnout- thought there would be more people at the show considering all the hype, or maybe i'm just way ahead of the game. ;)

it seemed like at the spaceland show more people were into the cold war kids than tapes 'n tapes.

Same at the Alterknit show. A fair number of people bought CDs from the Cold War Kids after the show, but as far as I can tell, I was the only one who bought a CD from Tapes 'n Tapes.

It's always funny when you realize that a band you thought was huge (relatively speaking) really isn't that big after all

the beginning of "cowbell" sounds just like the beginning of "long live the king" by for squirrels. i doubt that tnt would rip off such an obscure band, so maybe it's just a coincedence.

example by for squirrels is a fine, fine album.

I heard some clips of their album and it was absolutely terrible.
