Looking for some kind of opinion, and figured this'd be the place to do it...

I have a variety of instruments to play with live, and I'm looking for another synth to pair w/ my MicroKORG. Doesn't have to sound amazing, but has to sound better than something you'd get at Best Buy/Toys R Us...

I'd be using it mainly for leads, possibly for layering. Oh, and here's the kicker - around $300 max, hopefully less (I can search for a bit hunt down something used, no problem). Wouldn't mind getting something similar (but not too similar), it doesn't have to be a full 74 keys (37 with octave shift would work fine)...

I've been going back and forthon this but, to be honest, I don't know jack about keys. Any help?


P.S. I'm not looking for a controller and programs... just a synth that makes it's own sounds...

I just mess around with it at home, but my Alesis Micron sounds pretty smooth. Retail it is $399 though. 37 keys with an octave shift and tons of programs. My knowledge about the subject is very minimal, so I really can't add much more. If I can answer any questions about it, please don't hesitate to ask. When I was looking for a synth six months ago or so a few people on Obner were very knowledgable on the subject.
