...than with the original version.

Listening to De La Soul right now, and it's occurred to me that whenever I hear Steely Dan - "Peg", all I can ever think of is De La Soul - "Eye Know". Nothing against the Dan, it's just that De La used that sample so perfectly, it forever altered my perception of a classic tune.

Also from the same De La record, Funkadelic - "Little Old Country Boy" will always make me think of "Potholes In My Lawn"

Are there any songs where this happens to you?
You hear the original and all you can think of is the tune where it was sampled?

I'm annoyed by this, but I can't listen to the White album without hearing Dangermouse's grey album in my head.

Pretty much any and all Tone Loc...

"Wild Thing" :: "Jamie's Cryin'" (Van Halen)
"Funky Cold Medina" :: "Hot Blooded" (Foreigner)

...well, OK, maybe just those two.

np: Todd Snider - "I Spoke as a Child"

Why didn't Yoko sue to get part of the profit off that? It's not that I can see her not wanting it released; rather, I can see her seeing the further cool that the John will get by being associated with Jay-Z... She'd just want her share of the money that would come of that. Thus, the lawsuit.
