Certainly doesn't surprise me that a 70 yr old woman would know Belle and Sebastian. Foppish easy listening? Seems that's the audience they're going for, with a little fall-out expected among the yearning, zoloft-becalmed 20-something indie set.

I was still suprised

but damn you nailed it

It's a good thing Rads' contempt for all things pussified isn't enforced by law. That'd make things uncomfortable. A little bit.

The Boy with the Arab Strap has always impressed me more. 'It Could Have Been A Brilliant Career' is one of their best songs. I am going to listen to Sinister today to see what I've been missing that everybody else seems to hear.

I stand by my statement and revising my previous ranking. I listened to If You're Feeling Sinister today and frankly, it stands as my least favourite B&S albums was actually worse than I recollected. However, Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like A Peasant is way, way better than I remembered and is going to get some more play.

Been really digging on the new one. Lots of great songs on there that I find stuck in my head for the past couple of days - "For the Price of a Cup of Tea," "Another Sunny Day," "Sukie in the Graveyard," "White Collar Boy." I haven't made an official list, but this is prob top 5 for me thus far.

it definitely is for me. i haven't listened to it in a while, but all those songs you mentioned are so goddamn catchy. the guitar solo from "sukieé is so fucking smoking.
not to mention how good some of the slower songs are (morningtown crescent and dress up in you come to mind)

the other incredible thing is the two song combo "we are the sleepyheads" and "song for sunshine." such strange styles for bands, especially "sunshine" but it works so well. and the guitar solo in sleepyheads rips as well. so great.
