Nothing major here - pill, occasional nurofen or panadeine for headaches. Should probably take vitamin c but always seem to forget.

In the past few years I've been getting some (what I gather from this thread) fairly mild migraines, but apart from earlier this year they haven't been all that regular so haven't bothered with prescriptions for it

I probably also have mild asthma and lung scarring right down at the bottom/end of whatever those tube things are in the lungs (it's been a while since I did anatom at school ok) from having a nasty and wrongly diagnosed case of pneumonia as a teenager, but it is only occasionally a problem, or when I have a chest infection, so I don't take anything since I found inhalers only marginally helped it.

I don't have any perscription meds. I don't even go to doctors.

I would like to get some ambien or something so I could stop relying on beer to fall asleep.

A resident doctor I worked with suggests having one drink before bed to facilitate sleep onset. If that doesn't help, droogs; but sleep aids like ambien are only effective for a couple months before resistance develops. Try an antihistamine such as benadryl.

I don't remember exactly. It's Ibuprofen + Alcohol that's not a good idea. Cramps or headaches or whatever I don't have any dirt on. I learned this while being licensed to sell booze in Louisiana. I think it can wreck your stomach.

Wikipedia says it can increase the risk of stomach ulcers. For some reason I thought it had something to do with stomach bleeding, but I ain't no Doc Hollywood.

Long-time alcohol users who take acetaminophen, i.e. Tylenol in therapeutic or modestly excessive doses are at risk for severe hepatic injury and possibly acute liver failure.

Long term use of NSAIDs (aspirin and ibuprofen) increase your risk of stomach ulcers. A new form of NSAID, COX2 inhibitors such as Celebrex, was supposed to reduce the risk of stomach ulcers. Instead, it was really just an expensive drug that ultimately carried the same long-term risks as ordinary NSAIDs; and a barely significant increased risk for heart attack.

This guy knows what he's talking about. Paracetamol (acetaminophen in the US) should never be taken for a hangover. In fact, its got a relatively narrow therapeutic index - the difference between a therapeutic dose and a toxic dose is not that large. It probably wouldn't be allowed on the market if it was a new drug. It is, however, better for children than aspirin, as aspirin can lead to Reyes syndrome. But stick to ibuprofen or aspirin for hangovers.

And with regard to your second point, COX2 drugs were the 'great hope' that didnt really pan out like planned. Rofecoxib was withdrawn because of increased heart attack risk. The other COX2 inhibitors arent as bad though.

Thanx, mang. I try... Between that monologue, above, and my riff on driving Hyundai models and voting for Bush, with an inspiration in Allan Iverson's "practice?" soliloquy, I think I have about twenty minutes of material, too. So, maybe, I could be DAT Filthy Comedian.

I take a multi vitamin everyday, but that's it. I'll take whatever pain pill is around if I'm in pain, but that's rare. I do smoke cigs, weed and drink beer/wine/liquor.
