I'll tell and you show.

I like the way you think, can I buy you a drink or something?

Yes. Yes you can. This is a fantastic start to the evening.

No one told me when I became an overeducated bore that most of the people who thought I was hot would be overeducated bores. This weeks haul: one dejected physicist, one wanky philosopher. I will be needing more beer.

Wow, I must have never reached the overeducated bore status while I was in Grad School. Most of the girls who find me attractive tend to party harder than I do.

Oh, there are other ways to be dull. Not drinking to vomiting is not the greatest of these. The professorial class seems to tend towards the insufferable somehow. Or maybe it's just me.

I don't like being flirted with by someone who thinks it is charming to declare a third person a moron for having differing opinions on Rawls, for fucks sake. Hasn't anything happened to them this week?

You get this and I get "want to go make out in the bathroom?"...

Fucks sake indeed. With our forces combined we might have one hell of a balance, bluejay!

See, a philosopher who wanted to make out in the bathroom would possibly be a fun sort of person. I think we just need some way to combine them.

Physicists and philosophers. There you have it. You need to interact with some other overeducated types.

Yeah, but he's ultimately going to ponder the gravity of his actions. You don't need a 'thinker', you need a 'do-er'.

Sadly, my education is no help here. Know a geneticist? In the meanwhile, we can have pj parties to pass the time.

DumpJack, can you suggest a discipline? I'll crash their seminars. Engineers are off-limits.

You have obviously chimed in because you can perfect our plan in ways we never thought. You're right, this is going to be a team effort.

We are seriously lazy when we discuss at home drinking and loneliness on the same thread as the day before.

I think it is a good thread too. I would have started another thread if I really thought it was needed.
We should really just have a sticky thread for mongering at home alone.

So I am on beer numero ocho for the day and getting my second wind after finishing off that awful six pack of Hidden River Pale Ale. The Old Style is going down fast and Nebraska just won the 2nd game of a double header against Texas Tech 14-4 on the mercy rule after trailing 4-0 in the first.

Indeed I can. I'm overeducated, but I'm a pragmatist. Also, I'm multi-disciplinary, I've got degrees, in psychology, neuroscience and biophysics, so I do work well with others.

When considering other non-boring fields. Consider the biological sciences, neuroscience, kinisiology, physiology. All fine people who tend not to prattle on i.e. deeds not words, kind of like Megaforce.

I don't know. I might be with your professor friend on this. Anyone who can't enjoy some Lou Rawls on occasion is a moron.

Continuing on rawls theme [in deep, husky voice]

You'll never find...as long as you live...

DumpJack, you seem wise. Maybe that multidisciplinarity folks go on about is some of what it's cracked up to be. I'm keeping an eye out for the life scientists at the next quasi-work-social event.

Billy, our philosophising friend may not be a fan of this Rawls either. Sorry. John is too simplistic. Even hometown cred didn't help his cause.
