I am doing an ad for a publication, I do ok, but I need a fine line border around this whole ad so that it's framed, plus, sometimes my type comes out jagged. Heres the .psd for those interested in mocking my inferiority.

illustrator is pretty similar to photoshop in many ways.
also, make sure your image is 300 dpi and in CMYK

as for making a frame, just select the area and go to stroke under the edit menu

Edit - Stroke - Will drop a border around whatever layer you have selected.

2.1875"x4.875" (its 1/6 of the ad page)
Nice: so, I can just lay a layer down the size of the whole ad, then edit/stroke?

If this is still in need of some help, I can check it out in a few hours or so, just not now.

New Layer > Cmd+A (Ctrl+A) > Edit > Stroke

If you don't select all (Cmd+A), it will tell you there is nothing to stroke. RDRR.

Assuming you want a black border, make black your foreground color before hitting Edit, because it should default to the foreground color as the stroke color. Also, the stroke measurement is in pixels, so if you want hairline (0.5 pt) go 2px, bold closer to 8-12px. I don't know the exact conversion, but just eyeballing it makes it look like 4px=1pt.

honestly, it looks kind of amaturish.
but i've seen much much worse.

also, your resolution is much higher than it needs to be (At least for american printers, not sure about the crazy super resolution printers they may have in Belize) But at your current resolution your images are pixelating and they probably don't have to.

a way to see the true quality of your image is to view as "actual pixels" under view.

thanks, I will fix the res-- 500? But, then, seriously, I'd like to know, what would you suggest to polish it, as--indeed-- I am an amateur at this but the people I could pay to do this around here are not much better than me.
Its the type that looks stupid, no? PM if you get a chance I would greatly love your help. Thanks again!
