In an apparent allusion to Iran's nuclear programme, Mr Ahmadinejad asks: "Why is it that any technological and scientific achievement reached in the Middle East region is translated into and portrayed as a 'threat to the Zionist [Israel] regime'? Is not scientific R&D [research and development] one of the basic rights of nations?", according to the Associated Press news agency.

I mean, in some ways he's right. How do you guys feels about statement : "Is not scientific R % D one of the basic rights of nations?"

I think it's interesting, especially as it applies to nuclear weapons.

Mahmoud Wrote:
"On the pretext of the existence of WMDs [weapons of mass destruction], this great tragedy [the US invasion of Iraq] came to engulf both the peoples of the occupied and the occupying country.

"Lies were told in the Iraqi matter," Reuters news agency quoted the letter as saying. "What was the result? I have no doubt that telling lies is reprehensible in any culture, and you do not like to be lied to," Mr Ahmadinejad is quoted as saying.

And here, I completely agree with him. I just hope he's being straight with us and not lying about whatever their doing nuclear-wise.

I mean, he's mad, but he's got some decent points. And what did he hope to accomplish with this letter? Why not sit at a table and talk about this shit?

Didn't Brazil just open a uranium enriching reactor which they are refusing to allow inspectors to look because the technology is 'more advanced than that of Western nations'?

I can't find the exact article on the BBC site, but I'm certain I read it in the past week or so.

I've said it before but the idea that you can restrict technology to certain 'friendly' states is idiotic beyond belief. Not only is it hypocritical it's impossible.
