I'm trying to compile my own "best of" R.E.M. mix for my ipod (Green and pre-Green). Unfortunately, all my R.E.M. was purchased cassette. So, I was wondering if any of you have the early albums already in digital form - particularly Chronic Town, Murmur, Life's Rich Pageant, Document, Reckoning, Fables of The Reconstruction..

I have some of that, but I doubt I'll be able to get most of it up on slsk before the weekend. It's possible, though, and I'll let you know if I do.

Man, Murmur through Green was a sweet run, especially when you consider there was only one year separating each of them:

1983 Murmur
1984 Reckoning
1985 Fables Of The Reconstruction
1986 Life's Rich Pageant
1987 Document
1988 Green

Nice.

Few bands outside of the stones ever put together a better or more important run than REMs 83-89.

Rollin Stones
1968 - Beggars Banquet
1969 - Let It Bleed
1970 - Ya-Yas
1971 - Sticky Fingers
1972 - Exile

It just doesnt get much better.

It really annoys me when I hear people say that R.E.M. was only good through their Green album.

C'mon now. Pure rubbish.

I mean I guess I'll contribute the Beatles but it kind of goes without saying

1965 Rubber Soul
1966 Revolver
1967 Sgt. Pepper
1967 Magical Mystery Tour
1968 The Beatles
1969 Yellow Submarine
1969 Abbey Road
1970 Let It Be

this has to be the best one of these prolific streaks as wel...

Why stop before Red Medicine? I protest this decision. Also, I think Killtaker came out in '93.

I have no problem with Red Medicine, or anything since... I just think that up to Killtaker was their best run.

That's all right, I'm not the one who has to be judged by your record collection.
