Newt actually said something that I agreed with this morning, that American's would rather have a conservative solution to america's problems than a liberal one, but that they do want a solution and will take what they can get. Has newt always been this reasonable? I remember him from the Clinton era, or as i call it "college v 1.0", and thought that he was a demogogue. did he change or did I?

Running for President is a whole different ballgame compared to trying to turn control of the House over to a party that hadn't controlled any house of Congress in 40 years.

Actually Newt was more of a compromiser than most people remember. Most of the CFA was abandoned within the first 100 days of the 1995 Congress.

Democrats refuse to admit it about Newt and Republicans refuse to admit it about Clinton but those two guys did a lot of good shit together by compromising (welfare reform, balancing the budget etc) something neither side seems to be willing to get its collective head out of ideolgical ass long enough to accomplish now.

i just read an old article about when Clinton bombed Iraq because they had WMD's.

pretty much everyone in the congress was calling for Clintons head saying there is no reason at all to invade Iraq and that he should resign.

newt was the only republican (mentioned in the article) who supported Clinton.

they just needed bush and cheney to come back and remind them that they needed to bling.

Yeah, he sounded very reasonable. Still, I don't feel like I can completely trust him. He brought the partisan rhetoric hard back in the day.
