Careful there bubba, dri is like a ninja, just waiting for an excuse to flip out and kill you. kill you dead.

She'll probably figure out how to do it with just the liner notes from The Bends.

Actual fact: if you read The Bends liner notes out loud it sounds just like a baby crying.

absolutely not. HTTT was a quality record, and even though it may not serve as one of their masthead albums, it does a fantastic job at reconciling the different directions they explored in their previous 4 records.

i don't buy that at all. someone said that it's formulaic...what's formulaic about "backdrifts" or "sit down/stand up" or "myxamatosis" or any number of tracks....?

the closer meets up to the standards of any other RH album. HTTT is sick.

If by overrated you mean "not as good as I wanted it to be." But I don't think it got fawned over that much.

I think I said it was. What I guess I meant in retrospect was that certain songs on HTTT ("backdrifts" can be considered one of them, in addition to "2+2=5", "The Gloaming" and "Where I End And You Begin") leaned too close to the tried-and-true Radiohead Songwriting Formula (or really, if you want to get down to it, "Yorke-isms") to really be considered innovative. Then again, maybe I'm just biased and it's 2:00 in the morning. I should probably discuss this when my brain is functioning properly.

Oh, and "Myxamatosis" kicks ass.

And when I said "overrated" I guess I really meant "boy, that Pfork review is a bit much, ennit?"

i guess i don't understand how "backdrifts" can beconsidered the "tried-and-true Radiohead Songwriting Formula." What does that even mean? Is this why I like RH so much? Because I haven't noticed that they are really not creative? I'm actually really curious about what you mean.

Eh, I don't know. The more I'm looking at what I wrote, the more this is starting to look like a personal attack on Thom Yorke....on the other hand , because of the way that the band operates when they write songs, to my knowledge, it insures that most of the blame has to go his way if a song works or dosen't. Or maybe I'm just griping because with the exception of "There There" and "Wolf at The Door", there simply wasn't anything as arresting "How To Disappear Completely" or "Pyramid Song".

I'll just say this; HTTT gets far less spins than the other 'head CD's that are in my catalog (OK Computer, Kid A and Amnesiac.)
