how far in advance does one need to advertise a garage sale. is it too late to promote a sale on 6/3? or could it be even too early?

nah, i don't even want to go thru any hassle of shipping stuff out. it's just all crap that we have since replaced w/ the wedding gifts and what not - silverware, plates, pots, etc.

I bet if you donated it to Children's Memorial's White Elephant that you could claim it on your taxes for more cash than you would get selling it.

i can appreciate that, but really, there's a LOT, and it's more of just getting rid of the stuff rather than making a buck. i don't want to worry about shipping or transporting anything. just want to set everything up in the garage and let people go nuts.

It's not too late at all. Most garage sale/yard sale signs go up prior to the weekend of that date. So putting any up this week might be too early actually. I'd wait until next Monday.

Ryan, start posting Wed/Thurs prior. Loads of people scan the classifieds and look for street signs -- they plan their weekend around yard sales. You'll find that Saturdays are the best days. If you live near a church, Sundays will be good around the hours that services are held...after that, it's not worth waiting around.
