You know Phil...the more I think about this, the more I think you should go. Whether you play or just go and dance and have a good time is up to you. But go and try to see the guys before and/or after the gig, you need some closure and you're more likely to get it going than blowing the whole thing off.
You seem clearly bothered by the way they treated you, but at the same time you didn't seem to really like or want the gig on any permanent basis. I wouldn't be that surprised if it was pretty clear to them that you weren't committed long-term and they might have thought with the album coming out and gigs in support all lined up that they were better off replacing you now than having to find a replacement later at an inopportune time. Go get your closure and move on.
Billy, you are wise. This is exactly what we have talked about. Phil was no longer having any fun. At the same time, he has put up with them for two years and has earned the right to play the cd release. It disappointing that they couldn't have talked to Phil first and discussed it instead of just going with the no-talent tool because he's available.
Whatever you decide I will support.
