So, I'm going to break down and treat myself to an iPod. For some reason, I get the impression that pricing is standardized regardless of vendor, but does anyone have a suggestion of where I should get it? I was thinking of Best Buy.

if youre a student, you can get it discounted through the apple website store. if not, they dont really check, so they wouldnt know anyway.

costco has them cheaper.

If I were buying one, I would get a refurbished one. I think the ipod site sells them.

Buy one from someplace that offers an extended warranty. Even if it doesn't break, down the line you can trade it in to get a substantial amount off a new one. That's what Comp USA does anyway.

I'd probably buy a used/refurbished 4th generation if I had to buy another one. There just as good as new ones except much cheaper.

Or if you know someone in the same situation, this is how I got mine:

I lucked out and bought my 4 Gen new from a friend who already had an ipod and then bought an imac+ipod. He liked the 3g better so I took the 4G off his hands for about half price.
