mom's rule.

if you wipe somebody's ass for two years you deserve the right to inanely brag about your kids and annoy them with trivial bullshit once in a while

I know. Thing is I know you would never pull this stuff.

dunno but there's a lot of eye rolling that goes on in my house and it ain't just me.

Yeah, I know, I'm being a little bad. It's just this reoccuring theme/problem of both my parents broadcasting (via email or x-mas letters) every tiny personal detail of me & my siblings' lives, without asking first. Sometimes they're like the frickin' paparazzi.

Sorry Moms, no disrespect.

Oh yeah? When we decided what house we were going to buy I sent the link to my Mom. She forwards the link to EVERYONE in my family WITH THE PRICE! Like I want my whole fucking family to know what we're spending on our house. I mean I don't even communicate in ANY way with 80% of these people.

But that's just the way parents are. She was proud of me and she wanted my entire family tree to know that she was. She just doesn't think sometimes. What are ya gonna do?

She's my Mom. :)

It's a small price to pay. Some of us would kill for the opportunity to be embarrassed by our mom one more time.

That reminds me of something I was thinking about this last weekend:

I was sitting on a bench at the mall waiting for Cap'N's first mate and her sister to finish shopping. And this lady and obviously her mother sat next to me. This lady's Mom could barely talk. It was kinda sad.

I started thinking, it's gonna be so wierd when that time comes that I'm gonna have to "take care" of my parents. It just seems like the older my Mom gets the "younger" she acts. Forgetful, rambles on about NOTHING, has a harder time communicating, etc.

I mean this old lady (on the bench) was pretty much the equivilent of a little baby. I can't even imagine my Mom being like that. But she will be, eventually, ya know?

Anyway...

My mom is in a nursing home currently with Alzheimer's. It's what they call the "long goodbye" disease. It's been devastating to my family to the point where my siblings and I don't talk much because of it. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

believe me when i say all of this will change as a) your mum gets older or dies cuz you'll miss all that crazy shit and/or b) your kid is 12 hours old and you're e-mailing 300 photos of him/her off to the most obscure relatives you have.

hey, i get it. bitch away. i was the same way but maybe a little perspective once in a while ain't such a bad thing.

this coming from someone who, up until last weekend, hadn't spoken to her father for 8 years.
eh, nobody's perfect.

My mom has carried a picture of me and my ex-bf in her purse for the last ten years. She didn't even take it out when I was married. She still asks me to this day how Jason's doing... "Is he married? You know, you should've married him when you had the chance." (I never had the chance)

Now she drinks and swears and I think is a swinger with my dad, but whatever. She's mom. And I'll miss her craziness when she's gone someday.

Don't get me wrong, I love my mom. I just couldn't live with her again. She's basically a good person, but some of her actions and comments leave me cold, and I wonder what could have happened to her to make her be that way (we're southern, we don't talk about these things-- they just fester). And yes, I'm sure the day will come when I am sad to see her go. Like Busty's mom, my mom is already starting to get forgetful, and it does trouble me. I guess it's easier living across the country from her because I don't see it all the time. I've also got two sisters within close proximity of her, so if anything terrible were to happen, they're at least there right away.

haha my mom is absolutely nuts. tania can vouch for me on that...if this was the biggest problem we had, i'd be such a saner and happier person.

You guys are right. I really have nothing to complain about. My Mom is amazing and we generally get along very well which in itself is a blessing, I know.

Haven't had my Dad around since I was 11, so OPA you're really on target. Sometimes I'm just a frickin' pissed off little teenager.

See ayah... I was a good girl and told my Mom it was no big deal (but would "prefer" to be asked or told beforehand next time).

Me good girl.
