I listened to that Petty/Red Hots clip from some FM radio douche - like I needed to do that.

Anyway, I never listen to "rock" radio these days for too many reasons to mention, but what is up with that irritating-ass FM radio rock-guy voice? You know what I'm talking about. Who talks like that? Is this epitome of rock edginess?

If somebody was in your house using that tone, you would throw that jackass right into the street.

What have these people evolved from?

My brother Mark's been in radio for 26 years and still sounds like Fred Rogers precisely because he loathes the FM DJ Voice.

Is it the gravelly voice?

The alternative station here in STL has been doing some revamping over the last few weeks. They're on shuffle now, and have expanded their play list. After a few weeks of listening, that basically just means playing more songs from Licensed to Ill and "Flagpole Sitta" more often.

I need either a CD player or satellite in my Buick. Radio sucks.

Any station that still willingly plays Harvey Danger needs to close its doors for the sake of humanity.

God, I hate that whiny Flagpole Sitta song more than I detest Celine Dion.

I like Flagpole Sitta, but on that one of six million mixes in the backseat of my car that I stick out at random once in an eon.

Not in heavy rotation.

This thread reminds me of the Sklar Brothers bit about radio cliches...

"IT'S THE WEEKEND!!!! ALL...WEEKEND...LOOOOONG."

No, they're referring to the flange-heavy booming overlord voice that recites the call letters and tells you how rad "Ozzfest" will be.
