when i put a disc in it doesn't show up on my desktop and then the computer rejects it without any kind of a warning or comment. why?

i usually ask my son for help but he's still asleep.

is it a burned disc?

I've had that happen plenty of times. If it's a burned disc, that could be it. Sometimes for absolutely no reason both my imacs hate certain discs. Try rebooting and giving it another chance.

it's blank and i need to burn some files to it.

oh, that's another problem all together. I've had bad batches of discs, might not be a computer thing at all.

he's 13.
he stays up until 4 or 5.
i don't really care unless i need to do something he might be involved in.
then i kick his ass out of bed.
