You ever had to work with someone that you absolutely cannot EVER say anything to, knowing that within a day, it will be around the entire office?

I won't get into specifics, but let's just say I've had it with a certain female in my office, who also unfortunately happens to be in my department (we're the only 2 females in the group). I've spent the better part of 4 years now, extracting myself from any involvement with her, or her circle of friends, as they're all a bunch of gossipy fools. I've found that any association with these people (and unfortunately.... why is this always the case?... these are all women ) just makes me look bad.

So I'm pretty good about not saying anything to this particular person. It's like a game... I'll hear a rumor or upcoming event from a close co-worker/friend, keep it to myself, and count the seconds/minutes/days before this woman comes over to tell me the same news. Inevitably, she always comes around. And I typically act surprised, like it's the first time I've heard it, or just say, "Yeah, I knew that already" and go back to my business.

Lately though, this particular woman got herself embroiled in a bitter situation between 2 people, and I had the unfortunate circumstance of being in the same room when she was talking about it. Now my name's been added to the mix, like I'm some accomplice in this whole thing. It makes me really fucking angry, but at the same time, I don't even want to legitimize ANY of it by (a) confronting gossip woman about it, or (b) kow-towing to other party, denying any involvement. My thing is, I wasn't involved in it, therefore didn't do anything wrong, so why should I have to apologize for anything? So I thought I'd just let it lie. What do you guys think?

Sorry, don't really want to get into specifics. Suffice it to say, it's completely LAME, and not worth my time explaining it all. Which makes it all the more irritating.

There's a LOT of this kind of crap in the office where I work ( & yes, it's 99% female ) ...I just try to keep my headphones on tight & my music loud.

And I also just keep looking for somewhere else to work.

Fuck 'em. It's funny, my mother isn't a Betty Homemaker anti-feminist or anything, but she HATES women in the workplace.

This is why women should stay home with the kids.

ignore it and maybe it'll go away. especially if no one can trace anything back to you. if anyone says anything, key their car and teach them a lesson.

women in the workplace are the worst, though. i got into it with a c*nt coworker today and i've been ready to slap the shit out of her all day.

i just found out an ex-coworker is now dancing at a strip club.

i also spent a good 15 minutes cleaning up after my a-hole students, too. i'm not sure how they got to their mid-20's without knowing how to clean up after themselves. coke cans by the registration table? baffling.

oh, and i was on hold with corner bakery earlier and their hold music was "if she wants me" by belle and sebastian. so cute.

according to some of my stay-at-home mom friends, shit like this still happens, esp. in the various "mom clubs" that pop up in neighborhoods. Basically it comes down to the fact that some women will always be a busybody, and will always be someone to avoid.

Those people are FAR worse than what you deal with. If fucking Connor doesn't get into the "right" preschool, next thing you know Nikki and Jen think that Anita is white trash...BLECH!@!!!!@

What sucks is that she probably makes more money than you now.

A friend of mine called and asked why I was out sick last week and apparently he couldn't wait to tell the whole office so they could crack jokes about it. Dude needs a beating.
