Yet, the Super Bowl Trophy is in Art Rooney's office and the World Cup resides in Rome. Pussy Nigga, you don't know me.

Your point? I don't think the better team one either match.....i was rooting for Italia but they were severely outplayed from the second half on. I thought the seahawks got screwed by the refs and were better that day than the Steelers...the better team doesn't always win.

My point, Dr. Doltenstein, is that WINNING is everything. Losers always whine about doing their best, winners go home and fuck the prom queen.

Mr. Profound Genius .......so winning is about screwing the prom queen?...i don't think the italians have prom....plus i'm fairly certain that the french team was still getting action from their hot model wives/gfs.

True...but it must be easier on the players then their fans because when they go home they're still millionaries with hot ladies around.....while the fans had to go to work miserable and depressed.

i know my day was ruined when england lost to Portugal but thankfully i didn't have to work the next day and just proceeded to get trashed.

It is the question on every football fan's lips. What did the Italian footballer say to prompt Zinedine Zidane's shocking headbutt in the closing moments of Sunday's World Cup final?

The answer, it has emerged, was a vile stream of racial and personal abuse.

First Marco Matterazzi called the French star the Italian equivalent of 'n*****', and then insulted both his mother and his Muslim background by saying he is the 'son of a terrorist whore.

^^^
Supposedly. But the only source i can find is the fucking Daily Mail.

No wonder the only Italian Cup triumphs have come in former fascist states (Spain, '82; Germany, '06). Il Duce would be proud, no doubt.

Despite Zidane's red card, he was handed the Golden Ball as the tournament's best player. It's a testament to his both his brilliance against Spain and Brazil, and also to his personality. Remember, the French barely scraped into the Round of 16, beating Togo in a must-win affair—without Zidane, who missed the match because of accumulated yellow cards. Given a reprieve, Zizou picked up his squad by the scruff of the neck and spurred them by example. Angry passion has always been a critical factor in Zidane's game—as he has mellowed during his advancing years, his play has gone south as well. Zidane was able to summon his fire once more in Germany. This was Zizou in full—you can't take the genius in the midfield without also taking the occasional bout of anger. If it cost his team the World Cup, well, they wouldn't have been in that position anyway.

Interesting take.

The bit about France not getting there without Zizou must surely be an indisputable fact.

Loogs,
I'd tend to agree with you if Nebraska hadn't been fucked over by the refs in the 1994 Orange Bowl against FSU. My Huskers would have won three titles in a row if a questionable fumble, goal line stand and interference call would have been called correctly or not called at all. Then you also have cases like the 2002 US-Germany WC came when the US scored a goal, but the refs said it didn't cross the line and Thorsten Frings had the hand ball infraction that wasn't called.
Hell, the 1990 Colorado Buffalos won a National Championship thanks to a fifth down and phantom clip on a Rocket Ismail punt return. Typically the best teams overcome bad officiating and win, but occassionally there are those times where the best team doesn't. I will agree that Italy did what they needed to do to win this game, and France squandered this one without awful officiating coming into play.

That's some pretty revisionist history there, Pat. ND should have won the title as it is that year, because they beat FSU head-to-head and both teams ended with only one loss. SO, if FSU had lost their bowl game, ND would DEFINITELY have won the title they rightly should have been awarded that year in the first place.

But thanks for playing...

Nebraska was unbeaten and the Number one team in the Coaches Poll at the time, so if they would have won the game like they should have without some bad calls, then it would have been a split title if anything.
Plus, I would have liked Nebraska chances against ND more than I did playing FSU in what was basically a home game. If ND would have handled BC, the Huskers and the Irish could have settled it fair and square. I always though Lou Holtz was ducking Nebraska after being beaten by the Huskers 84-13 while he was coaching Minnesota.

Was Nebraska really unbeaten? For some reason, I thought they had one loss going into the bowls. Truth be told, they were both better than FSU that year *bracing for LooGAR eye roll emoticon assault*.
