Nice. Yeah I have a Mac but I'm not dumb enough to think that they'll NEVER be any viruses for them.

But I gotta tell ya right now it's pretty fucking awesome not to have to worry about em at all.

macs dont get viruses because there arent any. sure, its possible, but os x in many ways is more inherently secure, permissions being the biggest reason (which im not going to try to explain). its also possible to have worms, and there was an ichat worm that was released not to long ago. actually getting it required a whole lot of hoops to jump through, though, so if you got it its probably because you wanted it.

firefox is an internet explorer alternative and it's much better - you can add different extensions for whatever you need/want; just go to the firefox website, have a look at the extensions and a simple click or two to install them.

Even with out any extensions, it's still less prone than IE.

If you add ones such as 'NoScript', 'AdBlock', 'Fasterfox' 'CookieSafe' etc etc it makes it even less prone

And yeah make sure you update the firewall/antivirus every week at least

DO people actually worry about viruses anymore?

With all the free email services doing scanning, it's pretty hard for one to get out in such mass force.

The entire ABC News Network got f*cked up not too long ago, I think it was last year. Virus and worms can kill your system and can become attached to almost everything. Porn sites are the worst. Flash game and entertainment sites are also breeding grounds of viruses and worms.

Two crashed systems in (one this year), they are very real.

The "virus" for Macs they speak of wasn't even a virus by definition, it was the trojan horse Northern Soul spoke of. On top of that this vulnerability was repaired months ago.

The point is, at this time absolutely nothing gets installed on a Mac without you okaying it, and you don't have to run virus scan software daily or weekly to eradicate any nefarious crap. Since most of this crap comes in via IE or Outlook, using alternative apps would go a long way to saving most Windows folks the grief.
