I just watched this for the first time tonight. What is the opinon on this movie? Good? Bad? Mediocre? Eeeww Jennifer Lopez?

I thought it was an AWESOME idea. And, visually it was amazing. The colors. The slow-mo scenes. Totally twisted mind thought up the images. The story dragged at times though. Despite it's graphic scenes, it wasn't anywhere near as disturbing as I expected it to be, unlike my shock to scenes in Event Horizon, which had an awful plot and sometimes despicable acting, but had some of the craziest messed up "gore" I had seen in a movie in a while.

I think that this movie is a Vince Dinofrio's career in microcosm. So much talent, such a great actor, potentially, and yet disappointing to me on many levels. I wanted to like the movie and I didnt think it was awful, just not very good. And I officially hate Vince Vaughan.

Yeah. I think Vaughn has found his niche with his "old guy wanting to act young forever" movies.

Apparently, if you ever watch Law and Order Criminal Intent, they had to move to two new detectives becase D'Onofrio is almost as weird and bizarre as he is in The Cell, the show, and...wasn't he the whacked out "new recruit" in Full Metal Jacket? Anyway, I think he's a great actor, but I think he is actually just too crazy for his own good. He's kinda creepy, so "they" say.

Greatest role of the 1980's.

(a close second: Nicolas Cage in Peggy Sue Got Married)

Everything I've seen' D'onofrio in he acts a bit tweaked. I like him alright, but his offness has become his standard. His smug bitter know-it-all in Law and Order is fine though.

Nobodys mentioned the director, Tarsem, and how this was his only feature so far. He is, however, going to be doing a film called "The Fall" and then the remake of the Michael Crichton film, "Westworld". "Westworld" was a crazy film, with Yul Brenner, and I can only imagine what Tarsem is going to do with it. His visual flair, at the time, was revolutionary, now its passe. I remember thinking at the time how far before its time this film was. D'onofrio was great, but he usually is. I didn't even remember that Vince Vaughn was in this film until it was mentioned. I do, however, now remember that at the time, this was slated to push him into "action guy" territory.
