Show was at the Ryman, which is great, but plenty uncomfortable and lots of obstructed view seats. With that said, still a tremendous venue.

Fruit Bats were good, but the opening act sound is always so awful. They played for about 30 minutes or so. Love that band.

Lamontagne was tremendous. Although he looks like a chunky Matisyahu who shops at the GAP, hes an awesome performer and the crowd LOVED him. I was surprised but the cheers for Ray's songs were deafening.

At the end of his set, however, he is singing a song solo, with his guitar. A lilting, bluesy love song and when he gets about 2 minutes in, there comes a huge cackle from the audience, so he stops the song, puts the guitar down and says: "Sorry guys, but there's some fuck in the audience who thinks the blues are funny. Im sure hes just ready to go home, drink some beer, and wait until his kids are old enough to rape. Thanks, Nashville!" and proceeds to walk off stage.

One of the better in-show moments Ive seen. And this is after hed been getting standing O's and "we love you Ray"'s from the audience for 90 solid minutes. Odd fellow.

Guster was unreal. Ive been a casual fan of the their music for a while but the shit they do live is incredible. I dont know if its typical for them to run aroun dlike crazy with big light shows and switching instruments every song but it was captivating. Really incredible entertainers and the crowd of 2 thousand or so was definitely into it.

All told, about 4 hours and 15 minutes worth of great music. Definitely see this show if you can.

Saw Ray and Guster (Fruit Bats weren't on the bill) at Chastain on Friday night.

Good show.
