Me and Mrs schadenfruede are celebrating our 14th anniversary in Chicago this upcoming week. Will finally take in a Cubs home game, doing the second city, and the King Tut exhibit... and low and behold, Lollapalooza is going on so we've added that friday to our schedule.

Just curious if anyone else I may know from CMJ land or Obner will be Lolla on Friday? I'm hardly prolific in my posting..

The tentative schedule for the schadenfruedes is start out around 2 and see:

Star's/Editors (whatever sounds best and we can get closer too)
Ryan Adams (just a bit and I'm going to yell Bryan)

My Morning Jacket (please masses go see the Raconteurs)
... I know I should see Sleater-Kinney but I bet we end up at Violent Femmes because the Mrs is fired up about it and basically how I talked her into it....

last year's lolla was the hottest weekend of the year, followed closely by intonation the weekend prior. sound familiar?

Ween is hitting Tulsa in about a month at Cains and we have tickets which complicates things. We may just be in the back of the crowds and check out the vibe.

Sigh...this time last year, I was at Lolla and had a great time meeting the Chicago Obners!

As of right now, Saturday and Sunday is supposed to be about 85 degrees, which I can handle. Friday is supposed to be about 80. Time will tell if weather.com are a bunch of idiots.

i originally planned on going to this until the big tax debt surprise. was gonna be a fun week of hanging out w/ a friend (in rockford) & all-day concerts. hope to do this next year...

I will be working it this year; does that count? It should be fun - the weather looks to be more reasonable for the weekend.

i was planning on going since fri is my birthday, but i realized i don't have enough vacation days if i want to go to ny in nov for cmj.

not to mention, i don't do too well in the heat.

So Stars or Jeremy Enigk on Friday? I'm a Sunny Day fan and thanks to Timis, Jeremy's new record is getting decent play here. Based on his record though, I see his live act being mellow. Stars are associated with the Montreal scene, but that's all I know of them.

I checked the weather last Monday for this past weekend's temps. Weather.com was about 20 degrees wrong.

they've been setting up for this for a few days now. from my office, i can already see two stages. maybe i need to bring some binoculars on friday.

I'm going to go up to my dad's terrace each day depending on who I want to hear.

I don't get to go anywhere for a while.

Plus I wilted in last year's heat and couldn't go for any shows before 3:30 that sunday.

I may go on saturday and take the train down.

Btw, how far is Grant from the downtown hotel area? We're at the Drake... is it walking distance or cabbing? And anything in the area that is a not miss relative to the hotel location?

It's about a 1.5 mile walk from The Drake.
Very doable and very enjoyable in weather that ain't too hot.

I forgot that we can just open our windows and hear the bands. I heard really loud music start just now and opened one of the kitchen windows and it's coming from one of the stages over there.

Don't know who it was, didn't recognize the music.

I really need to find the schedule so I can listen to whomever when possible.

the stages on the south field look to be finished, but they just got started on the field where petrillo shell is today.
