This is almost as dumb as the no smoking outdoors bs in LA.

foie gras is disgusting anyway. it tastes like hell and just knowing that some duck was abused so that i could pay $30 for its liver makes me sick.

that said, i don't think it should be banned. that's ridiculous. how about making good on the fucking smoking "ban" if you're so concerned about banning something in chicago.

I have some frenchy friends that would be very sad to find this out.

i can't believe there exists a person who doesn't know how delicious that bloated, infected liver is. and i'm not kidding. i defy anyone on this board to go have some with a glass of sauturnes and give a negative review. simply won't happen.

I don't know what sauturnes (probably wine, right?) is, but I've had foie gras plenty of times (okay, just three) and I don't like it. most recently, I had it at a relatively upscale Japanese restaurant, wrapped in monkfish. It's like having dry mush in my mouth and that's no fun.

I had caviar for the first time tonight. It was alright.

While we're talking about odd food, escargot is awesome.

I'll even order foie gras and then the duck entree. I've too only had foie gras three times, but everytime it has been prepared differently and deliciously. Oh man, I need to go dine with my parents!

As it stands, a coupla Chicago chefs have altered their menus, and will charge for everything that comes with the foie gras, while making the FG complimentary (like an upscale parsley sprig). See, it's only illegal in Second City to provide foie gras at a price; giving it away is still legal. As is eating it.

Some pizza place...connie's or something...for one night only was having foie gras as a pizza topping in "honor and support of our fellow chefs".

The funny thing is about all this, Mayor Daley thinks it's idiotic.

Even he's against some of the fucked up ordinances that these aldermen have been proposing. It's been an absolute joke in the papers and in the news for almost a year now. There's a LIST of stupid bans and changes this one particular Alderman wants proposed.

The guy is a flippin idiot.
